Almost everyone knows what a discussion forum is - a place when you sign up and post comments on a wide range of topics, it's like interactive email that everyone (with permission) can read. Intranet Suite's Discussion Groups module is exactly that; an application that lets you create unlimited groups to discussion any topic imaginable.

Discussion Groups has always been one of our most popular modules. When you don't need the speed of instant communication it offers a place where you can post comments and read other users opinions at your leisure. Quite often discussions can go on for months- if you create a discussion group for a particular project then its like keeping a live journal of everyone's thoughts and ideas.

The module lets you 'watch' a topic, then whenever some replies you will be sent a system message. It's easy- just click the button with the little spectacles icon.

If an administrator doesn't already have enough to do, Discussion Groups has powerful administration features- most of which you can delegate to other users known as moderator. These users can lock topics that get out of hand or go "off topic", move posts that have no relevance and delete those that are deemed unsuitable. Each group can have as many moderators as required, you can also set each group to be private, so only named users or locations (users belong to a certain team, for example) will be able to participate in the discussion.

Discussion Groups has numerous other great features, such as the ability to view discussions in threaded lists or the more conventional flat formats. It supports attachments and makes full use of the powerful Intranet Suite editor with its spell checker and powerful content features.
